Andy Osteen : mid-unit check

The renaissance occurred in Italy for many reasons. But the three main reasons are: Ruins of Rome, Wealth of Italian cities, Invention of Printing Press. These things struck the renaissance to begin in Italy. The ruins of Rome with art and architecture was an obvious choice to go to there. And the cities were very wealthy to start businesses and inventions. And the printing press changed everything. It started the printing revolution.

Andy Osteen: Fujiwara portfolio!

I just got back from china. It was an amazing experience. I loved it there. I'm now on to my last journey to Japan. I'm going to Koyto. I will be with the Fujiwara people. It will be very interesting to see how another civilization lives.

When I got there they people were so nice. I got to live in their houses and eat their food. They were very welcoming. It was a nice place. We were talking about how long the Fujisawa ruled. They told me until the 12 century. I was shocked by how long they ruled. And then the meijia era took over.

After we talked and ate. I asked if I could visit the capital. I went inside the capital building, and the attention to detail, architecture, and work that was out into it is amazing! I then got to visit a different culture, the Nakatomi people. They were just as nice. It is very cool it koyto. I love it here.

But yet again another trip comes to an end. It was getting dark and I had to Leave. So I said bye to all my friends, and got back on my time machine. I went home and realized the difference between now a day and all the cultures I visited. It is amazing to see where the world has come too. I can't wait til next time.

Andy Osteen china

I'm now in china. What a wonderful trip I've taken. I had fun and learned very interesting things in timbuktu, so I can't wait to see what I'm going to learn this time!
I decided to go to china. The Tang Dynasty in the time period of 618-907. The is where ill go first, Chang-an. What amazement I saw when the diverse culture was doing. All the different art and dancing and music. It was awesome. From there I went into the emperor palace. I meet Tang Taizong. Tang Taizong was said to be a brilliant general, government, reformer, historian and he became one of China's most respected emperors. He was cool, very smart man. Told me everything I needed to know. And helped me fill in some background info on china.

Tang Taizong tookme on a tour of the palace, and then I wanted to see the capital. We went shopping at all the little stores. Taizong asked if I knew archery or sword fighting. I was shocked to know not only was he a genesis but he did all these fighting skills too. We went back to the palace. He also showed me his art, and scroll paintings. They looked great. This man just did it all. I noticed it was getting late. So I knew I had to leave my good friend.

I got on my time machine and went home. I once again was sad to leave my friends I made. Then looking it up that the dynasty had famines and declined. It was sad. But visiting them made me feel like a part of history. I can't wait for Korea and Japan!!

I went to Mali,  in Timbuktu between 1230 - 1600 CE. i met Mansa Musa was very  in his palace. I learned that he was the king. He told me about Islam. How he forced the laws of the Koran into his own justice system. Musa helped cities such as Timbuktu and Gao to become major international icons of Islamic learning and culture of their time.  Mansa Musa was very  generous and caring. He would hand out gold to everyone. Musa was cool, he was straight forward. He was an amazing king, I was honored to be there with him.

Mali was a cool place to go. I learned a lot. I had a lot of really interesting experiences with Sundiata and Musa.  I was bored and decided to go out and just enjoy the day. I hit the Niger River, the shops and the trade business. While in mali, i went to Great Mosque of Djenné, in Djenne. It is said to be  the largest mud brick building in the world. The people there pray a lot. It is said to be the  greatest achievement of the Sudano-Sahelian. It  helped strengthen Islamic influence.

My journey was coming to an end. I had to get back to my time machine. I wanted to say goodbye to Musa and Sundiata and got a little souvenir from the mud brick building. I said thank you for all my friends that helped. I ran back to my time machine, put in all my info. And headed back. I was sad knowing that all my friends in mali 1230, had died. But what an experience! Can't wait for china!!

Conflicts in Syria

On September 28th, 2012 there was a fire in Aleppo. It damaged many stores, schools, and storehouses. This was such a major impact on Syria because it is Syria's largest city. It is also one of the world's oldest continuous inhabited city.
